Aloha, we have several exciting community kid powered fundraisers we are working on. Our goal is a project a month until the end of the year.
In August we are seeking donations for our Street Store, a Back-To-School drive to collect new and like new clothing and supplies for school age children who are homeless or need assistance and so families can shop in a dignified manner for free.
You can arrange pick-up before event or Drop Off on the day of event, simple, easy and rewarding. Mahalo to Ocean Girl Gabi Turnbull for being team leader with the wonderful folks at Ivivva at Ala Moana Mall, one of our primary donation drop-off locations.
Ocean Girl Project – The Street Store
Saturday October 1st , Ocean Girl Project is hosting Hawaii’s first back-2-school “pop-up free store for kids” (and babies) created entirely on the street, run by volunteers, and stocked by donations. We are super stoked to support kids giving back to kids less fortunate.
The Street Store.
Basically a street store is an approachable space on a fence where we hang donated clothes; we place shoes and school supplies in open boxes, and allow homeless families to help themselves to what they need. We are also collecting and donating baby formula and supplies for new mothers. We are coordinating this event with IHS (Institute for Human Services) and it is being set up on the fence across from their building.
Ocean Girl Powered. This is truly an ocean kid driven back-to-school donation collection event. The adults are helpers and supervisors and the girls are the team leaders.
Needful Things. Many of you may have or know someone who has something that homeless kids don’t; adequate back-to-school clothing. Help by spreading the word to friends and family; ask your fav local store to donate surplus clothing items, we can help them clear space for the new season. We can pick-up items or (even better), bring items to the street store event on Saturday September 3rd, feel the love and share good vibes.
Show up. We greatly appreciate volunteers before and especially on the day of event to help hang clothes. An hour of time is very helpful! Contact: email@example.com
Positive Promotion. Consider advertising with Ocean Girl Project, we are an established educational ocean focused non-profit organization that supports our local youth. Each year we provide scholarships to financially in-need kids to attend a five-day summer surf camp and we host one-day wild workshops throughout the year. Marketing and advertising are a vital and worthwhile practice and advertising is a business deduction for taxes. OGP has over 600 followers on Facebook and over 700 on our website, we are on Instagram and twitter. Secure a sponsor spot on our event webpage by August 8th and your business will be included in our island wide news release. We support local! ( sponsor page launches August 8th )
Involve ocean girls in the overall fun and positive experience of helping less fortunate kids in their community. The Street Store makes it easy to donate and provides a dignified opportunity to receive.
